Customer-Supplied Garment Policy
This policy applies when a customer asks Gift It Different to print onto a garment or item supplied by the customer.
Inspection and Acceptance
All customer-supplied items must be inspected and approved by us before we agree to print them. Acceptance will depend on the fabric composition, colour, condition, construction and suitability of the item for the required printing process.
Accepting an item for inspection does not guarantee that we will be able to print it. We reserve the right to decline any garment that we believe may be unsuitable.
Items We Do Not Normally Accept
Because customer-supplied items may be difficult or costly to replace, we do not normally accept:
- Branded or replica football shirts
- Expensive designer clothing
- Rare, vintage or irreplaceable garments
- Items with significant sentimental value
- Garments without clear fabric-composition information
- Damaged, heavily worn or previously altered items
- Items that may not tolerate the heat and pressure required
Printing Methods
Depending on the garment and design, we may use heat-transfer vinyl (HTV), DTF or sublimation printing.
Not every printing method is suitable for every material. Sublimation, for example, is generally used on suitable polyester-based materials and lighter surfaces, although certain specialist garments, including some hi-vis items, may also be suitable.
Information You Must Provide
Please tell us:
- The fabric composition shown on the garment label
- Whether the item has been worn, washed or previously treated
- Whether it has any coatings, waterproofing or special finish
- Any existing marks, weaknesses, damage or alterations
- The approximate replacement value of the item
Please make sure this information is complete and accurate. Hidden treatments or incorrect fabric information can affect how an item reacts to heat and pressure.
Approval of Artwork and Placement
The customer is responsible for checking names, wording, spelling, numbers, colours and print placement before work begins. Where a proof is supplied, printing will not begin until it has been approved.
The customer must have permission to use any logos, images, trademarks or other artwork supplied to us. We will not knowingly reproduce copyrighted or trademarked material without permission.
Risks Associated With Customer-Supplied Items
Garment printing involves heat, pressure and adhesives. Although every accepted item will be handled with care, materials can sometimes react unexpectedly because of hidden faults, previous treatments, coatings, fabric blends or weaknesses that were not reasonably apparent during inspection.
We cannot guarantee against problems caused by inaccurate or incomplete information, hidden defects, undisclosed treatments or weaknesses that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand.
Our Responsibility
Gift It Different will provide its printing service with reasonable care and skill. If something goes wrong, please contact us promptly so that we can examine the item and assess the circumstances fairly.
Nothing in this policy excludes or restricts your statutory consumer rights.
Collection and Checking Your Order
Please check your completed item as soon as possible after collection or delivery. If you believe there is a problem, contact us promptly and avoid wearing, washing or altering the item until we have had an opportunity to inspect it.
Unsure Whether Your Garment Is Suitable?
Please contact us or bring the item to our Carlisle workshop so that we can inspect it before providing a quotation.
